How to Do Ice Facial?

An ice facial is a quick and easy, at home ritual to de-puff your face, and boost glow. The skin gets a fresher look.

Step by step: How to do an ice facial

  1. Start with a clean face

Clean your face with a mild cleanser, and dry it with a towel. Dirt and grime should not be frozen.

  1. Wrap the ice cubes

Wrap 3–4 ice cubes in a thin, soft cloth or a muslin cloth. Do not place ice directly on your skin for a long time, as it can irritate your skin and even cause a redness.

  1. Glide gently on the skin

With the ice wrapped move it in small circles over your cheeks, forehead, chin and the nose. 1 to 2 minutes is the total time of doing this. Use the under‑eyes as the area to be puffy but don’t hold the ice in one spot.

  1. Listen to your skin

If you are experiencing burning, stinging or numbness then immediately discontinue the process. If you have sensitive skin or rosacea‑prone skin then you should be very cautious and limit the frequency.

  1. Follow with skincare

Once done with the ice facial, if the skin is moist then dry it off gently and apply a light moisturiser or if you like a serum, use the hydrating one. You may find that after icing your products absorb better.

How often should you do an ice facial?

An ice facial can be done 2-3 times a week by most people without any safety concerns. People with resistant skin that is not sensitive can even do it on a daily basis, but it is always better to initially take it slow and then determine your skin's reaction.

Who should avoid ice facials?

In case you have very sensitive skin, broken capillaries, active eczema, or a condition aggravated by cold, it is safer for you to refrain from ice facials or consult with a dermatologist beforehand.

So, an ice facial is basically a simple, inexpensive method of skin refreshment if you keep in mind to be gentle, not too long, and always put a cloth between your skin and the  ‍‌ice.
