Job Description
The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and visitors at the clinic. They are responsible for managing administrative tasks, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a welcoming environment.Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients and visitors warmly upon arrival and assist them with the check-in process.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments following clinic policies.
- Patient Records: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Billing and Payments: Collect and process co-pays and payments, and provide receipts.
- Administrative Duties: Answer and route incoming calls, manage incoming and outgoing mail, and handle emails.
- Office Management: Maintain the reception area, manage office supplies, and ensure inventory is stocked.
- Patient Support: Address patient questions and concerns, and escalate issues to the appropriate staff member if needed.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with clinic staff regarding patient updates and scheduling.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; some college or vocational training preferred.Preferred Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and professionalism.
- Proficiency in office software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and medical scheduling systems.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus
Experience
Prior experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably in a medical or clinical environment.
