BODY CONTOURING
Also known as Coolsculpting, body contouring is a non-invasive, body contouring technique that utilises precisely controlled cooling that targets & freezes fat cells.
BOOKBody Contouring or CoolSculpting is generally viewed as a procedure that is safer, non-invasive type of fat reduction compared to liposuction. Most people do not feel anything during the procedure, aside from a tugging sensation and a bit of tingling. Most clients can expect up to 20-25% reduction of fat in the treated area. It is important to note that this is NOT a weight-loss procedure. Results can be seen as early as one to three months after the treatment. This procedure is ideal for clients who are healthy and are close to their ideal weight.
Consult with your primary care physician to evaluate whether Coolsculpting is right for you. After this consultation with our experts, you are led to the Coolsculpting room.
The doctor applies a gel pad and the applicator on the targeted area. The applicator delivers controlled cooling to the targeted fat.
The device is then moved over the skin while administering suction and cooling to the targeted area. After the applicator is removed, the area is massaged immediately to break-up any frozen deep tissue. This also helps the body to absorb the destroyed fat cells.
The treatment can take anywhere between one to three hours. Although bruising from the suction of the applicator is a common side-effect, it is a good idea to avoid taking an anti-inflammatory medication (like aspirin). This will help reduce any further bruising that may occur.
Side effects during the procedure include sensations of intense cold, tingling, stinging, pulling, aching, cramping which will subside once the treatment area is numb.
Normal day to day activities can be resumed almost immediately after the procedure for most people. Results can be typically reached after two to three months. The fat-flushing process, where dead fat cells are naturally broken down and flushed out of your body, will continue for up to six months after the initial procedure. The area where the fat cells are removed will not see new fat cells.
After the treatment, temporary side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, aching, cramping, skin sensitivity, numbness. A very rare but serious side effect is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (more likely in men) which results in the fat cells in the treatment site to grow larger rather than smaller. While this is a cosmetic side effect, it does not disappear on its own.
You have severe sensitivity to cold temperatures and suffer from Raynaud’s phenomenon. You have cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.
It is important to note that the coolsculpting procedure does not treat obesity and replace a healthy lifestyle. Continuing or starting a healthy diet and an exercise plan is crucial to maintain results.
