What not to do After a Hair Spa?

Hair spa aftercare keeps the deep nourishment, shine, and strength that the hair has got from the treatment, thus, the results can be seen for up to 4 weeks. One of the main reasons why people are not getting the desired results is because they are doing things which cancel out the effects of the hair spa quickly and, therefore, they should avoid these mistakes if they want to have hair that looks like fresh from the salon for longer.

Don't Wash Hair At Once

You should not wash your hair with a shampoo until 24-48 hours have passed so that the masks and oils that have been put on the hair can fully absorb into the hair cuticles. Washing hair early takes away the moisture leaving it dry and flaky. If you need to freshen up your hair, then you can put on some dry shampoo.

Avoid Hot Water and Frequent Hair Wash

After 48 hours of hair spa, one should only wash hair with lukewarm water. The hot water makes the hair cuticles open, thus, the hair loses the nutrients and the frizz becomes more visible. To keep the hair hydrated, maintaing those 2-3 washes per week and using sulphate-free shampoos is necessary.

Don't Use Heat Tools or Tight Styling

Do not use hair dryers, straightening irons, or curling irons for 48-72 hours as the heat will cause the proteins that were infused to the hair to be lost. Also, do not use tight ponytails or buns that can pull on the roots and thus break the hair that is soft due to the spa treatment.

Use Products in Moderation

Do not overdo and apply excessive amounts of oils, gels, or sprays right after the hair spa, as they will clog the pores and cause the hair to lose shine. Select thin and light serums; too many silicones will lead to building up the hair and the treatment will not be as effective. Limit product use and the hair will be pampered for a longer period of time.

Wear Hair Protection From Pollutants

While outside, it is recommended that hair is covered with something that is not tight in order to be safe from the sun and pollution, which are two factors that drastically shorten the spa hair duration. Swimming in pools or using chlorinated water should be avoided for one week after the treatment - chemicals that are used in such achievements remove the benefits of the hair spa. Use a silk pillowcase while sleeping for less friction as well.

Transition to New Lifestyle

Right after the hair spa, do not eat spicy food or smoke, because both of these things will dry out your scalp and make it difficult for the product to be absorbed. Also, you should drink a lot of water and eat protein-rich food if you want your hair to be repaired from the inside.

If these are followed, one will have hair that is shiny, bouncy, and healthy. Regular monthly spas combined with consistent care will lead to beautiful hair.
